Last Minute Shopping for CNY Goodies

Was chatting online on Saturday's night when Dad suddenly said that he want to do some shopping at NTUC. Tagged along since I want to stock up some goodies. Heehee.

I have an interesting find though. It's the Chinese New Year. I shall present my discovery in a meaningful way.

Dad's Happy Meal

Asked Dad to make the "scooby-doo multi layer" sandwich for me again. It has been quite some time since I last ate Dad's specially designed sandwich. It's really tasty and makes me full. Dad added two extra hashbrowns for me today. Dad fried it specially for me as my brother wanted it baked instead. So happy that Dad didn't mind the trouble even though he haven't had his lunch and is busying preparing the food for offerings. ^^

Dad drew that smiley face for me. HAHA. First time drawing that though. He added the two hashbrowns on top as the cap. I think it looks more like Elvis Presley's hair. HAHA. I think I took around 30 to 45 minutes to finish that sumptuous lunch. Yummy! ^^

Smile is Contagious

Many situations are resolved by just one smile. This is the power of a smile. Tense situations are also loosened by just a smile too. Smiling doesn't just make someone else's day better but also your own. It's a way to destress as well.

I went to the polyclinic for consultation yesterday as it was the 8th day that I had diarrhoea. Met this particular lady at the counter whom I think her serivce wasn't very good. The way she talk to my mother was rather rude. How nice if she would just smile when she talk.

Went to have my consultation when my number was called. Frankly saying, I was not very happy with how I was received by that doctor. Yes, she doesn't smile too. Her patient care is not up to standard. It really feels different to be a patient after experiencing how the life of a healthcare worker is.

Went to collect my medicines at the pharmacy later on. The staffs there were relatively friendlier. The cashier didn't smile at me initially. Smiled at me after I smiled at her.

Some may think that it's odd to smile when someone is not smiling at you. Well, someone somehow have to take the first step. I have been a little more initiative after NDP and my attachments. Still improving though. I can do it so can you.

Furthermore, one looks more beautiful when they smile. To look more radiant, smile more alright!

Cheers! ^^

NYP Wushu Chinese New Year Performance 2009

The performance this time round was quite different. It was a two-day performance whereby there were only three juniors performing on each day. Instead of just the performance, there were the fair where things were sold. Furthermore, for both days, I led. I LED.

On the first day, it was terrible. Ruiqi and Fengwei went to the atrium area first as I need to make a trip to my classroom. After meeting them at the atrium, Fengwei told me that none of the seniors will lead us and I have to lead. Alright, it's a good chance to train my confidence. Courage zone. But I didn't have time to rehearse and just go onto the performing area. I was doing some stretching when the music started playing and the seniors are already starting hteir performance.

My counts kept having the number "4" missing. No last minute tips or anything. My voice was loud, but Fengwei and Ruiqi can't hear me for some of the time as I was standing at one end of the row. The people selling the "ba gua" and some other things merely stared at me. =.= Wrong direction of the sound waves. Haha.

Thank you Ruiqi and Fengwei's understanding that it was my first time leading. Frankly saying, I am not very happy with my performance. I am not happy that I am not stable.

Second day, formation changed. Edward replaces Fengwei. My position was in the middle. Instead of standing in one "horizontal line" like the first day, we stood in a "vertical line". The "lines" are with reference to plan view with the theatre for the arts as the upper border. Haha. The travelling of the sound waves was better. Both Ruiqi and Edward were able to hear my command. Edward was a little "kancheong" initially. I haven't start and he starts. Haha. It was a lot better than the first day. I felt more stable for the second day as I did have the chance to rehearse with Ruiqi and Edward once before the performance.

Anyway, good job everyone! =D

SCO Gala 09

Worked on both days for this event. Quite tiring. Felt giddy while I was working, especially on the first day. I wonder why. Maybe it's due to my hunger and I wasn't feeling really well as I am still having diahorrea. I had the same jobscope for both days but different things to be done for each days. I was rather blur for these two days though.

Security on the first day was really tight. All the people that enters the building have to be scanned throughly. The reason was that prime minister Lee Hsien Loong was the guest-of-honour for that day. I was rather shocked when I reached there. There weren't any checks when president Nathan was the guest-of-honour previously.

I was in-charge of the VIP again. Changed with one of the colleague to get this position. I think there were other ministers too. There were quite a lot of bodyguards. So concentrated. There were times when I do not know where I can stand. Haha. I am supposed to direct patrons to exit from the other door. The bodyguard that stood beside me did that. Feel like he snatched my job. Haha. Anyway, the bodyguards were so different from president Nathan's bodyguards. Their dressing were "advance formal" instead of the "simple formal".

The show was nice but I didn't really watched it. Was quite busy and I wasn't feeling very well. I was feeling giddy and had stomach ache. Thanks to Victor for telling me what to do when I was feeling giddy and do not know what to do.

There were the edited version of lion dance, 95.8FM deejays' play, suona and erhu solos and project superstar champion Kelvin Tan's performance. The play was hilarious but I do not understand as the deejays spoke in dialects. The audience were laughing with enjoyment. The soloists were superb. They used some techniques that I have never seen before. Cool. Kelvin Tan's voice was a little weird though. His fringe covered his right face and I didn't really get to see how he looked like. Haha.

After the performance, I opened the door for the VIPs to exit. Didn't get clear instructions from the in-charge though. Think I am supposed to ask teh cleaner to make way as she was cleaning near the lift that the prime minister is going to take. I stood outside the door, looking around to make sure that there weren't any people coming up the stairs to block the way. As I turned my head, Mr Lee came out. When I turned my head back, I saw him like turning his head from my side to the other side. Maybe it's because of that split second I missed the chance for him to maybe say goodbye. He waved goodbye to the waiters at the nearby reception table. I am so jealous. =.= By the way, he is really tall. Haha.

After the patrons had left, I did the routine house-checks, removing the stickers on the VIP chairs. The prime minister's tag wasn't there. Wanted to keep it for souvenir though. Hmm. =\ Anyway, after removing the stickers and picked up some house menus, I went to take a rest as I still wasn't feeling very well. Thanks to the in-charge to allow me to take autographs from the performers. ^^ I feel bad that I almost got him into trouble. =S

For the second day, it was more relaxed than the first day. It was just like any other SCO event. I get to watch the show a little more. I didn't miss the starting and get to see the interesting percussion piece played. Four drums, two types with two drums each, were placed at different locations of the house. It was really COOL.

Kelvin Tan's voice was a lot better than the first day too. I understand what the play was going on too. SCO played the famous advertisement of the maggie instant noodle, so nice. Haha. SCO is really GOOD.

Jiewei got scolded by one patron. How rude that patron was! I have known Jiewei for years. She is definitely not the type of person that the patron had complained. Besides from that, there were also complains from the manager, for other issues, not that particular patron's issue. No matter what, I know that everybody had put in their effort doing their job.

Frankly saying, I just hope that more information will be given so that each of us know what to do. I took taxi home with Jiewei after that since we were able to claim the fare. Anyway, working for this event has allowed me to gain new experiences.

NYP Wushu Birthday Celebration for December and January Babies 2009!

Accompanied Liyan to Ang Mo Kio central to buy this cake, so nice. It's black forest. Liyan and I chose that as Jingting don't eat almond and chocolate cakes were used for the last three celebrations. Carry that one kilogram cake do help me to train some muscles. This has however strain a little on my swollen foot, or ankle. Haha.

After the celebration, I cut the cake for distribution. I am not very used to using that plastic knife to cut. The outcome was alright as the cake is still intact. Haha. Thanks Xinxin and kenny for helping me to open up the tissues and give out to the rest of the wushu mates.

Glad that I got the chocolate stick on the top of the cake. Weichong wanted to take it at first, but I say I wanted it. Haha. So happy that he only chip off a little. The rest of the fruits and chocolates were taken by the others. I wonder is it that I didn't wash my hands and ate that chocolate yesterday that caused me to have diahorrea today. Or was it that the volley ball court was too dusty? Or was it Weichong's hand? =O

Took the remaining pieces of cake home as no one wants to have anymore cake. Thanks to Xinxin for accompanying me throughout. ^^

The cake didn't taste especially nice. I wonder why. That chocolate that I ate was nice though. Hmm. Anyway, here's a picture of the cake!

Wishing all the December and January babies a very Happy Birthday! =D

Brownie

Dad drove me to fix his car as I still have some time left after my test before I have to report to the nuclear medicine department at the Singapore General Hospital. Saw this on his car and was curious what it was. I thought it was a bun initially as I have been craving for some pork buns recently.

I am so happy with the surprise that Dad gave. He bought it for me so that I would not be hungry while attending my lesson at the nuclear medicine department. Haha. So sweet. Ta-da! ^^

The nut toppings looks a little bit like garlic. I didn't taste much of the nuts as it was of negligible amount. This brownie is a little different from the rest as it doesn't have any nuts in the middle. It's not that concentrated too. I prefer brownies that are thick in chocolate and does not contain so much nuts.

Lee Yan's Birthday Party at Safra

I am really happy that Leeyan invited me to her birthday party. It has been so long since I attended a party and furthermore, at a resort. Leeyan sure is a good host. Thanks for inviting my auntie too. =)

As my dad doesn't like me to be out at night, especially at somewhere far, I didn't stayed long. Feel a little disappointed that I had to leave before Leeyan cut the birthday cake so as to catch the last bus to Tanah Merah MRT station. Was supposed to go there and celebrate her birthday yet it ended up that I went there to chat and catch up with her and Adeline. I didn't get to see how the cake look like too.

It has been so long since I last met her. Pretty. Almost can't recognise her when she come to fetch me, the lost sheep, to her chalet. Gave her the present that I prepared. Wonder if she like it or not. It has been so long since I put in so much effort to wrap a present and handwrite birthday wishes. Haha.

I didn't eat a lot as my stomach wasn't feeling that well. Guess I can finish the whole buffet table if my stomach was better as the food was really nice. Leeyan's auntie sure is a good cook. *slurps*

Here is a picture of the beatifully-made cake with some barbercued marshmallows.

This was the first time that I ate barbercued marshmallow by the way. Heard that it was supposed to be hard. But what I ate was rather soft. Not much different from the non-barbercued ones. Frankly saying, I have never tried barbercuing any food before. Anyway, take a look at that strawberry cake. The strawberry was actually made into a heart-shape. The cake consists of 3 layers. The first layer was made of jelly, followed by a layer of cheese and crushed biscuits. Yum-yum. There was also the almond jelly with longan too. Yummy. I simply love desserts. ^^

Before I left, Leeyan gave me a present! So sweet. It's chocolates! Very nicely wrapped too!

Happy Birthday, Leeyan!! ^^

NYP Open House 2009 - Wushu Performance

I am so happy that I somehow got the chance to be involved in the open house. Frankly saying, I am a little disappointed when I didn't get the chance to be involved as a helper. Glad that I got to perform. =)

I really thank my auntie for driving me to school as the injuries on my right ankle somehow acted up since Monday. I get to save walking some distance.

I reached school early to meet Ruiqi, hoping to rehearse a little with her before the rest comes. However, I ended up trying to settle my laptop as this was the first time that I brought my computer to school. Lots of settings have to be done in order for me to be able to access the internet. Brought my laptop to school because it's my school's e-learning day and I haven't got anything done yet in the morning. Thanks to Kennard that I managed to get the settings done successfully.

After Liyan and Liping arrived, we went to the atrium together with Ruiqi, as I was wanted to take the health science's booklet and some free gifts if we were given. Haha. We went to take a look at our performance area too. It was smaller as spaces were reserved by the chinese orchestra and symphonic band.

We went back to change and do some warm-up before reporting to the performance area. Went to tell Ziwei coach about the change of place with Ruiqi too.

I am quite disappointed as I didn't do very well for this performance. I wasn't able to do the kick properly due to the pain. The silver lining of this performance is that I am glad that I have got enough space to do the routine and I was able to hear Liyan's command.

After the performance, my ankle became more painful. Think I have somehow stressed it. Was worrying whether I would be able to perform for the second slot or not when I received news that the performance for the second slot is cancelled. Our performance schedule changed from one slot per day to two slots on Friday then to one slot each on Friday and Saturday and finally settles to that one Friday slot. Was hoping to perform more so that I can gain more experience and confidence.

Everyone did a great job and I am hoping for more improvements for my next performance. =)

Kway Chap

Today is the first time that I ate kway chap. Had always have a feeling that kway chap is not tasty as it looks like 'hor fun'. I don't really like 'hor fun' that's why. Dad say that he haven't had his lunch so I tagged along with him to the hawker centre. The 'kway chap' turned out to be quite tasty.

The side dish consists of three-layer pork, 'dou gan', egg, pig's small intestines and some fishcakes. The 'dou gan' tastes rather different from the 'dou gan' ate elsewhere. Nice. I don't really like the three-layer pork as it was not well-cleaned. No special comments for the small intestines, but Dad say that he prefer large intestines as the taste is better.

Think the 'tau poks' are missing. Saw some on the picture of the stall yet didn't get it in my plate. Anyway, I am so happy that I finally get to know how kway chap tastes like. =)

Hashbrown

This is a new way to eat potato besides from the simple boiled potato and fried wedges. I really like hashbrowns, especially when the edges are very crispy. Mum prefer it to be baked while I prefer it to be fried. I know it's not very healthy to eat oily food. But I guess it's alright for me to fulfil my tastebuds' desires once in a while.

I think there are something else added to the hashbrown to make it taste so different from the normal potatoes. I wonder what would that be. Hmm.. =)

Some like to eat the hashbrown with something else. For me, I prefer to eat it alone with nothing else so that I can enjoy the genuine taste of the hashbrown fully. *Slurps*
