Club Crawl 2009

From this event, I have learnt quite a number of things. It's not solely the actual days but the preparations as well.

Thank you XinXin for putting in so much effort for the noticeboard, helping me all she can as I was busy with SHS orientation. Thank you Serene for sticking my portion of flyers. Thanks for the unhesitating help! =D

For both actual days, I have totally neglected SHS academic club even though I wore the club t-shirt to school. Upon reaching wushu booth, I have to change to my wushu uniform. Thanks to my brother for the hoodie that I can run freely to class and to the sports hall.

For the performance, it's very messy on the first day. First time performing in a restricted area of space; there were the floorball barriers around the performance area. The entrance of the performance area was also mixed up. We were blur too due to some last minute changes to our formation before the performance. As the space was limited, I almost hit the barrier once. In short, it's a total mess. It was a lot better on the second day as we rehearsed on the previous night with the performing area familiarised.

Anyway, I performed with confidence on both days. I wonder why the performance time was rather short though. Hmm.

What a pity that I couldn't watch my brother perform as his item was right before mine. As he was performing, I am suppose to get ready for my performance. Thanks Haojun for helping me to take some shots of my brother's performance with my 2.0 megapixs handphone on the second day. Haha. Was a little shocked when I saw the backview of chinese orchestra performing while I was getting ready for my performance on the first day. The environment sure is not that conducive for chinese orchestra music; the melody is not clearly heard.

I am glad that I didn't really missed a lot of lessons because of the performance. Missed the back part of statistics lecture and the front part of national education lecture. Haha.

Wushu's booth was at second floor this year. Not much fengshui. The constant going up and down sure strained my leg. I did walked around to give away pamphlets and try get some names. It's straining to my leg too. What's puzzling is that people seems to be scared of my group of people when we approached them. It's kind of demoralising when faced with continuous rejects. I think it's my fatigue; I doesn't hold the confidence in me when I talked.

I was glad that I managed to catch some performances on the second day, seeing the various talents of the polytechnic.

Wushu Outing at East Coast Park

Woke up early today, took my "Scooby-Doo multi-layer sandwich and I went to pack my bag for my first outing to east coast park.

Met Kenny on the bus and we chatted a lot. He showed me what he had done for club crawl; it's really a great job done! As we reached there early, kenny went to Macdonald's for his lunch. We then went to take a look at the machine where people would put in coins to get their desired plushies after he went to 7-eleven to buy a bottle of 1.5 litre of water. the design of that machine obviously makes people having a hard time to get their desired plushies. The rest reached after that and we went to Burger King for their lunch and a chit chat session.

It's bicycle session next! Can't really ride as my ankle is still very pain. Thanks a lot to Ruiqi to ride the double-seat bike with me. Thanks for accomodating with me too. We can't get the momentum initially. Got it finally after a few tries. The quality of that bike sure is bad. There were squeaking sound and the seat were so small that both Ruiqi and my butt were feeling pain after a while. This is the first time that I took a double-seat bike. Even though I didn't use much force to ride, my joints still hurts. Guess it's the fast movement. Hmm. Anyway, the breeze sure is cooling.

We hada chat after the ride and of course some photo-takings. Ruiqi helped me took some pictures near the sea. Some weird pose that looks like wushu stance but somehow isn't. I took a walk later, letting the sea water to run over my feet. This is the first time that I stood so near to the sea, interacting with the sea water.

Headed home later on as I wasn't allowed to stay out too long. Thank you Kenny for taking the same bus as me so that I won't lost my way.

I had a great time today. Thank you everyone who made this possible! =D

Grading for Green-White Belt

It's over! =D The day that I have been waiting for. The thing that I have wanted to get done with.

Thanks a lot to Daddy and Auntie Mui for helping to send me my white belt to me at Kampong Ubi. I forgot to bring along my belt even though I brought along my uniform and checked for what stuffs to bring while I was preparing. Yaoteck asked me to borrow from other people. Asked Dad to bring it to me in the end as I don't want anything to make me lose my calmness.

My first grading. I am like a blur sotong. Glad that there are seniors who guided us along. It's an eye-opener today. I wonder why I feel so nervous when I was there. Feel a little nausea as I drank too much water earlier on. Glad that I managed.

My leg hurts. I am a little disappointed as I can do better that what I did just now. Anyway, I had done my best under that circumstances. I had.

The ventilation there isn't that good. Together with my nervousness, I have some difficulty breathing. The floor was rough. In short, it's not really the exam venue that I had imagined. Haha.

Thank you everyone for all the "jiayous". Thank you Anthony too for letting those involved in NDP to take early leave. THANK YOU DADDY AND AUNTIE MUI! =D

NYP SHS Orientation 2009

Finally the show was brought to an end after so much hard work and effort put in by everyone. The tears, the sweat, the stress – it’s all over. Hopefully there are no more sleepless nights. Having so much stuffs on mind concurrently is energy draining. Wushu grading, wushu notice board, club crawl, NDP, SHS orientation... It’s a great success to me even though there were "hiccups". What skeptics say doesn’t really matters; I have learnt a lot from this event.

I didn’t really have a good sleep the night before. Woke up early and reached school before sunrise. Thanks to Auntie Mui for the car ride! I reached school before 6.30am and as usual, I can’t manage to catch the sunrise as the doors to the offices and tutorial rooms were locked. Went down to the LT-K area to distribute the capes to the orientation group leaders (OGLs) right after putting my bag in the clubroom. I didn’t realize that I took over Sharin’s job till he thanked Faizah, Grace and me during the debrief.

Took some chocolate tarts, drank a cup of coffee and rest for a while before proceeding to the auditorium. What a pity that I missed the performance by the StageArts. Heard that the show was very nice. Grace and my walk-in was alright. Glad that I don’t have any stage-fright while I was talking on stage.
It’s a pity that Grace and I were blocked for the mass picture taking on stage. Oh well.. Anyway, what really matters is what I have learnt and experienced.

I ran around to check and make sure that things were going on smoothly. The walking around sure is straining for my ankle. I am totally exhausted after the first shift. Went to Wushu clubroom from time to time to provide some help for XinXin for the noticeboard. Asked help from Kenny and Shenhui, as one game in-charge (GIC) needs to go off to see a teacher. I can't stay there stationary. Glad that both of them agreed without heasitation. Thanks a lot guys! =D

My game "shape yourselves" didn't go about as planned. Guess there was some lack in explanations in the proposal. Oh well, can't really expect much for last minute work.

Wanted to go on stage for the sing-along session but I am just too exhausted. It's only when the music was about to end then I feel a little high-spirited to join in. The effects of the music huh. Haha.

Thank you Jovin and Faizah for helping me to take and safekeep my goodie bag. I wanted an OGL t-shirt but it was out of stock when Jovin went to check. Glad that I at least got a freshmen's t-shirt. ^^

Croatian Rhapsody

I like this lively tune. It some sort of give me a feeling to dance when I hear this tune. It's kind of destressing for me.

Enjoy~

Wushu Gathering at Pizza Hut

It's after the NDP training at Kampong Ubi Community Club and we gathered at the Pizza Hut there for a bonding session. Didn't want to go with the rest initially as it would be really weird when they eat while I don't. To me, the food there is not really affordable as I haven't been earning much. Went there in the end as I wanted to chat with everybody.

Eight people were there; Ruiqi, Kenny, Corinne, Jeremy, William, Junyuan, Jessen and me. Thank you Ruiqi, Corinne and Kenny for treating me, I really appreciate it a lot! =D It's the first time that I ate "Ocean Wave" and I quite like the taste. They ordered two pizzas to share; Hawaiian and Ocean Wave. The crust of the pizzas taste like the long and hard French bread. Haha.

Here is a picture of the "Ocean Wave".

After eating the pizza, I tried the "yuan-yang", which is the mixture of coca-cola and pepsi cola. The taste is a little weird, like pepsi twist without the twist of lemon. Haha. The colour looks a little different after I mixed the two drinks.

We chatted and crapped. It's a nice bonding session. Here's a picture of Junyuan's "invention".

She made it with the crusts left after she ate the "middle" part of the pizza. Haha. Creative.

We took some photos too. Jessen never fails to do some "stuns" in the pictures. Haha. Wanted to suggest a photo taken with everybody included but I forgot. Hmm. =\

It has been some time since I last ate pizza. Thank you people, I have enjoyed myself a lot! =D

SYF Central Judging 2009 - Concert Band - Day 1 and 2

Totally tired myself out for these two days of work. It's really tiring standing the whole day. But I did enjoy myself working even though there were some unpleasant situations.

First day was really chaotic. There was only one session announcement of results. The house was almost flooded with people. Students didn't stay at their allocated seats and some teachers have different instructions for their school. My job was to allocate seats for the school. It's challenging when they keep shifting.

It's my first time giving late-comers queue. Only till the conductor leave the stage that the queue can be given. It somehow make me feel confused when the conductor stayed on the stage.

The "shh-ing" and clapping games were played. It's more of the "shh-ing" than clapping. The whole house was "shh-ing' away. it's some sort of a psychological thing that one starts to "shh", a few will follow and all will start "shh-ing' away.

Second day was alright. Gained experience from the first day. I had the same jobscope of tearing tickets, guiding patrons and allocating seats for the students. Some students were not cooperative though. Anyway, I am so glad that what I have learned from NDP was somehow useful.

The clapping game was played on the second day. As long as someone walks in the house, the people will clap. Self-entertainment. One colleague only walked two steps from door three and there goes a round of applause. The people were clapping like mad even though he just took two steps and stood there. Haha. I laughed till I squat on the floor. Not very professional of me. Haha.

I am really tired out as I met Jiewei after the first day of work and had training after the second day of work. Marathon huh. Haha. I am really glad that I got to met Jiewei after one long day of work. It somehow brighten me up. Haha. As for the training, it's at YuHua. I reached home at 12am plus. Asked my auntie to rest at home yet she still went to wait for me at somewhere near the bus-stop. Touched.

Some observations of the bands. Before the whole band play the first note, some took a breath so organised and loud that it's some sort of weird to hear "hurrrl..". Haha. The joints of my legs are painful as I stood too long and didn't walk much. Earned myself a bruise yesterday while I attempted to help a patron to open the door. Quite nice of her to apologise to me later on when she came back as she somehow pushed my hand against the other door. Ouch. I think she wanted to rush to the toilet as she was coughing quite heavily.

Generally, both days were alright and I quite enjoy working for SYF. It's really a new experience for me. =)
