志摩的诗,我们的歌

The choir was not bad. This is my first choir event ever since I started my work here.

There was once when the female soloist have to wear a mask and the rubber broke. Her fast wits solved the problem on the spot. That is really commendable. Her way of presenting the songs seemed kind of fresh to me. There were parts that were so "chim" that I do no understand.

The event ended and we did the routine checks. I was puzzled why there was a file placed inside the storeroom. Thinking that it's lost-and-found, I just took it out. Placing it on my lap and sat at the seat waiting for the debrief, someone rude pulled the file from my lap and said it was hers. How nice. Ignoring her, things went on as usual.

As there was a change in the form, we were required to sign on the new form. WX saw some forms kept inside the rude person's locker and said that those should be thrown away as it was outdated. What I next heard from that rude person made my eyes popped out. She actually said it was Julie who kept the forms! Wow! Lying without a blink of the eye!

I left with the others to return the pass and headed home. Thinking about what happened on the bus, I made a call to WX to tell her the truth. I remembered clearly that I saw scores of the songs performed in the black file. How can it belong to the rude person when she don't even know how to appreciate music? Besides from that, I told WX about the forms. It was really not fair to Julie. How moral and civilised it is to have a newcomer as a scapegoat.

The Dream of Chang'an: Music of Zhao Ji Ping

Mrs Goh was one of the guest-of-honour for this event. This concert basically showcases the music pieces wrote by Mr Zhao Ji Ping. One of which includes a piece from one of the good show that I had watched, "大宅门".

Work for the day was kind of routine. I was Door 3 inside so I had to give the late comer queue. Due to last minute information, I was asked to be the second flowergirl. Due to the "special" request from GM, it has to be flowergirl instead of flowerboy because girls are more sweet. Rubbish. This is gender discrimination.

Jason took over my post while I went to the backstage. There were two times that I need to go to the backstage. It was then that I realise there was a miscommunication in requests as the second flowergirl was only needed at the end of the whole performance. It was three flowergirls that was needed officially. It washowever not able to be done due to the lack of manpower. I had to make two trips.

I was posted to do crowd control for the autograph session. Thanks to Jason for taking over me so that I am able to grab the autographs. I wanted to take picture with the composer but there was no chance for me to do so. Furthermore, that "great" GM was standing near the autograph table. Being able to grab the autograph is good enough.

Going back into the house for debrief, I heard some "great" news! That "professional" GM commented about my gesture of a flowergirl again. "Brilliant"!

BT say I am banned from being the flowergirl. I am alright with it as it was not something that I am looking forward to. According to what was said before the start of the event, I came up with a conclusion - I am a guy. This is the best explanation ever.

As the event ended late. Girls were allowed to claim taxi fare. I offered to share a cab with YuRi as he lives in the North, which is rather near to the central of Singapore. Sms-ing me the details of the trip, I was shocked that the fare went over $20. Hope that the claim can be done smoothly.

SCH Ushers Steamboat Outing 2010

Reaching Bugis MRT station early, I went to walk around Bugis Junction before proceeding to look for the rest. While heading back to the MRT station to look for the rest, BT saw me and brought me to the fountain at the soup spoon where the rest had already gathered.

On the way there, YuYue called me to tell me of their new location and what a coincident that I saw NDP08 F2's leader again after YOG. I think he has already forgotten me.

We waited for Uncle Jimmy and Junying before setting off to the steamboat shop. It was then confirmed that Uncle Jimmy was not attending after Junying arrived. Great. He was actually one of the reasons why I chose to attend.

We walked towards the shophouses and stopped by a steamboat shop. It looks a little old though. We were directed to the second floor for our meal. It was air-conditioned at the second floor. I however did not find the ventilation very good.

Settling down, we started to take orders. I am the only person there who is unable to consume beef. Thanks to BT, YuRi and Reuben for accomdating.

Tasting the soup before the fire was turned on, I find the soup kind of salty. Soup ordered were duck and chicken soup, one kind on each half of the "pot".

After submitting the order form, we got our drinks and dishes shortly. There were some dishes that we ordered but were not sent to us. Great.

My side of people was not as happening as those on the other side. They were fighting and searching for their glutinous cake. My table only became happening when Reuben tried to put the whole chunk of noodles into my plate. The other table commented our table is finally having some happening event.

Chatted and ate. I ate more than I talked. I kept eating till the rest stopped eating and I was still hungry. I was a little shocked with my appetite though. The rest ordered one more bottle of green tea while I ordered a little more food to eat. The lotus root is nice.

I started to feel a little full after the third round. Guess it was due to the halt while waiting for my third round of food to be served.

BT went down to settle the bills first so we took a group photo without him before we left. Reaching the first floor to meet up with him, he didn't accept any money from us. He said it's alright as it is once in a blue moon.

The food was generally alright. I however still prefer the fish from the steamboat shop at Ang Mo Kio.

Walking towards ilumna, we then bid farewell to each other. Took the train back together with YuYue and YuRi as usual. YuYue hit my stomach and I felt my stomach was kind of protruding a little and it was kind of stiff. Guess I really ate a lot.

SYCO Chamber Recital: Elegant Music Series 2010

This event was so short till I was shocked. The music was really nice and my passion of music that I pressed down seems to come up again. "大理情风" was really nice though it was a little different from what MF performed.

Before the event commence, I saw Benjamin Boo practicing his percussion. Nice melody. I was expecting some nice pieces for the night. One sanxian musician came up to practice as well. YuYue was telling YuRi that the sanxian musician is their senior and is a gay. I was shocked to hear that gossip.

The sight of that GM irks me. During the performance, he was talking non-stop to the music director (MD), Tsung Yeh. Does that mean that it's alright not to show any respect just because the musicians are not from SCO? Or is it that they are just simply youths? He should be banished from all concert halls! I really wondered why the MD talked too. Music should always be respected and especially by people who practice it.

I thought the presentation of music should improve. Some musicians seemed so stiff and some did not sit with a good posture. Overall, they are still good.

Many patrons were shocked that this SCO concert was so short. I had to answer many of their query. There was no intermission at all. Short session with quality music is cool.

I took a trainride home with YuYue and YuRi. Tried to talk to YuYue but there does't seems to have much things to talk about. I am not very good at finding topics for conversation. YuRi was dozing away throughout the ride though.

Catholic High School Chinese Orchestra Concert 2010

Catholic High School has a strong Chinese Orchestra. I still however prefer Hwa Chong's Institution's Chinese Orchestra.

Weird instructions from the hirer. I was asked to follow the LCQ on the paper given yet the hirer kept doing things that she felt like it. Great. It was said that kids under the age of six was not allowed into the concert hall. I do not like this rule. While checking with hirer, the hirer allowed them in. Conflicts in instructions. I was glad that the parents were nice to us, remaining calm while waiting for the issue to be resolved.

The concert was alright. Not much of an issue for that night. Thanks to WanRong, I got to have the nicely designed program. It was like a wedding invitation card with lots of "postcards" inside. Initially, I thought it was some nice landscape pictures. I then realised that it was pictures of the musicians after I opened it. Oh well.

I feel so smart for being able to guess the pattern of the conductor. I have correctly predicted an encore piece. Anyway, the first song was kind of weird. Birthday song and a mix of another cartoon music. I understand the birthday part as it was their anniversary, but cartoon? Furthermore, I find the musicians rather robotic in their performance.

The concert ended and we quickly do the routine house-checks. I am still pissed off that someone is roaming around and doesn't work.

Ushers' Briefing 2010

The briefing was held at the exhibition hall instead of the sectional practice hall. It was a very big room with a lot of chairs. I wondered why there were so many chairs when it was known that only twenty-two people will turn up.

Anyway, the chairs were separated into two blocks just like the previous briefing. BT refused to sit with the other two "old timer" and sit with us the "young timer".

Jason was a "star". He was famous over a night as he walked past the guest-of-honour some time ago. I was scared that what I did will be revealed too but glad that it did not.

After some discussions of the rules and some scenarios, we were brought to walk around to see the fire safty exit route. We were split into two groups. WX led my group. The funny thing was that she actually brought us to where the fire engine will park and told us that that is the placce that we will have to assemble. Shocked. We then see Mr Tai's group walking towards the other end of the place and we followed, getting to the correct place for assembly.

Mr Tai explained quite a number of stuffs. Justin suddenly asked whether we were listening. We replied no and he tell BT that we will not be able to survive if he is not the IC. Nice joke.

We then proceeded together to the main entrance of the building. Mr Tai mentioned that patrons that escape the fire from this side will just automatically run away. I wonder which patron will assemble at the carpark with us.

It was time for food after that. The time to punch our card was right after the walk. Time to eat the buffet was not counted. I ate with Peishan. We didn't talk much. I took three chocolate eclairs. There wasn't anymore when I went for a second round. Lin gave me her last eclair seeing that I was eating my last chocolate eclair. So sweet.

Punching out, I left the place after realising that my hope to pack some food home was not feasible. I was the last one to leave though as I ate kind of slow. My appetite for that day wasn't that big.

Walking alone to the MRT station, I was glad that I met some of them in the train. Reuben called me as I did not see them initially. Too focused on rushing into the train that was about to close it's doors. Had some nice chats with YuRi and YiTian's brother who both live in the North.

KPMG Seminar

What a boring event. I was given a chance to choose which post I wanted. Door three outside. I was hoping to slack a little. It was a pity that the chair outside the door was removed sometime ago.

The seminar was so boring that many patrons fell asleep. Standing outside was boring. I kept walking around. Went into the concert hall for a while and out. Bored. Really bored.

I crapped through walkie-talkie till the battery went low. It has been a very long time since I last saw Justin. He slacked so much. I kept calling him and said chocolate eclairs as I saw plates of chocolate eclairs at the reception for the patrons.

YuRi asked whether WX can help us to pack some food. It can't be carried out as there was no green light given by the hirer. I saw some of the hirers packing the food up and I can smell it from where I stood.

YuRi warned me about the survillence camera. Great, I actually sat right in front of the cacmera and use my phone. It was really boring. YuRi have been adjusting the signboards with regards to no food and drinks and the arrow to the toilet. The reason was that the patrons kept asking for the location of the toilets. It was kind of entertaining playing with the signboards at that boring moment.

The event ended and I quickly make my way back to Grandma house for my yummy lunch. The walk to the MRT station with YuRi and Jason seemed kind of awkward as we don't really have anything to chat about. I really hope that we will be chatting noisily with anything on earth soon. Nice conversations are just great.

Intermezzo 2010

This is a charity show organised by cristofori. Since it's a music school, I was expecting some nice music. To my disappointment, there wasn't much nice performance. I don't deny that there were some good performances too.

I was posted to Door Six. Rare. It was not very lucky for me to met with some nasty patrons. They ought to be banished from all concert halls. There was totally no respect for music at all.

Beisdes from some idiotic people, my work for the day generally was alright though I had to run up and down at times.

There was a moment when I was asked to help out at Door Four. There was this particular guy that bowed to me. Shocked. I knew that he bowed to people leaving the house but I was too shocked to react to his actions.

From his accent, I thought that he was a Japanese. I later heard from BT that he is an Indonesian Chinese. Nice and well-mannered.

The concert finally ended without any intermission. I went out with some of the ushers to The Soup Spoon for their dinner. Played with BT's doraemon on the way there and took YuRi's car home. He just got his license. Rounds and rounds on his car but I enjoy the ride; I love rides. It heartening to see that there is a good bonding between the brother and sister. How I wish I have an elder brother that dotes on me too.
