The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Watched the movie on one of the episode of the chronicles of Narnia yesterday. It's really a nice film I must say even though there are some flaws here and there with the flow of the story. Which film is flawless anyway?

How the film is shot is really amazing. The scenes seems so continuous with no flaws at all. The job done by the makeup artists is superb. Even though I had read 6 episodes out of the 7 episodes, I hope that all the episodes are shot into movies. Reading the stories from books is a pleasure as well, just that watching the show would provide me with more understanding of the story.

It has been years since I have read the story of Narnia. Around six years. I have forgotten most of the stories. How I wish that I can read it again. What I remember is that the first book is the best. "The Magician's Nephew". The characters are different from the rest of the book as it talks about the start of Narnia. The book that I have not read at all is "The Last Battle". As I borrowed the books from my primary school when I first read all these books, I wonder where I can find the books now.

Apple Turnover

The puff in the picture above is filled with apple paste. The taste is alright, but I prefer the fillings to be cubed apples rather than the paste. The layered crust is really tasty and it tastes better when it is hot.

I bought this at FairPrice Xtra. It's about $2 for a pack of 2. I would prefer to buy it at a lower price though. I once ate a mini version of the turnovers at the Raffles Convention Centre. The mini turnovers have some nuts stuck on its crust. I would say that it's more tasty than the one from FairPrice. But, the filling, is the apple paste instead of cubed apples.

Pizza

So glad that my group leader for the NDP bay ambassador treated the whole group to Pizza Hut today. First there is the chicken soup, as I chatted on the phone, it had already turned cold by the time I ate it. But, the taste is still alright. It would taste better if I ate it when it is served warm.

What come next are the pizzas! Hawaiian and seafood! I took one piece of seafood followed by two pieces of hawaiian. Yum-yum. The hawaiian pizza is really tasty.

The picture above is the seafood pizza. The sotong really looks like hor fan. The taste of the sotong is not that tasty I must say. Overall, the taste is alright, got some sweet stuffs added too.

This picture is the hawaiian pizza! It's really tasty. The cheese is really yummy even though no extra cheese powder is added when eaten. I added cheese powder for the two different flavours of pizza that I ate by the way. Yummy!

The crust of the hawaiian pizza is rather thin. Thinner than usual. The size of the pizza is not very big too. That's why I am able to eat three slices. Whee~

Know Your Limits

The main aim of exercise is to keep yourself healthy. It would defits the purpose of exercise if it is to be done excessively and improperly. Some factors must be taken note of while exercising to prevent the body from being harmed. Hydration is one of the main thing to be taken note of.

Besides from doing the necessary warm up, exercise should not be continued if you are not feeling well. Some may feel that they are uncomfortable in a way because they did not do their warm up well or they have not been exercising for a period of time. They would continue with their exercise because they somehow had reached a certain standard in the past. Well, as everybody's physical limits is changing constantly, any unwell felt must be taken note of. It is not recommended for one to continue exercising with any uncomfort felt.

Exercise through playing game may sometimes get one so engrossed in the game that they forget to hydrate themselves. Some may even focus so much on winning that they exert themselves over their body limits. This is something that is to be taken note of.

According to what I watched from a TV programme, it is recommended for one to drink 200ml of water every 30 minutes. For people who have just exercised, drinking of condensed water is not recommended as there may be dire consequences. Drinking of water that contain calcium and some other nutrients would be better.

Anyway, in short, I believe that you know your body well and what does the signals shown represent. Enjoy exercising with awareness!

NYP WuShu Orientation Camp 2008

I just had my 3 day 2 night camp from 9/6 to 11/6. In short, even though it's tiring, FUN!! I still can't stop thinking about the camp. How I wish that it last for a longer period of time. First camp that I enjoyed so much I guess. Not just me, others also can't seems to take their thoughts off the wushu camp. I am still feeling rather high about the camp. LOL!

The games are really interesting. Exercised a lot, my muscles are still aching now. I enjoyed the morning physical training (PT), but it's a little vigorous I must say.

On the first day, we had the wushu amazing race. There are 6 medals to be collected in this section. My group, Jotomate, managed to get 5, not bad. We came in second. Wonder if the first would be us if the people in my group had moved faster. Being the group leader of Jotomate, I feel honoured to have the chance to lead, and a little guilty for not being a competent one. Sorry, people! Thanks for bearing with me too! I still feel rather paisei for the part which we are suppose to feel some things blindfolded. It's the paper cranes that I touched in the first box. I screamed as I thought I touched crockroach's wings. Other people are saying that it is crockroach inside the box. Feel more paisei during the dinner when we are to do some reflections for the day. As I am eating, Jiangda tell the rest that I screamed touching Bobo, the wushu's mascot, which is in the second box. =.=" It's his station but it's not Bobo that made me screamed and hit the table, earning myself a bruise on my right knee. He imitated me saying that I like teddy bear in the ice breaking in the morning (with a twist, the peace hand sign). He further add on that I totally freaked out after touching Bobo. =.=" Oh well...

Later at night, there are some wushu warm up followed by the island game. I went to the side to take a rest after doing some warm up as I start to feel a little giddy and a little breathless. I didn't take part in the island game too. I felt a little lonely at first sitting at the side. Well, Jeremy, one of the seniors, came to chat with me after his warm up because it is time for the island game. Other seniors also showed me their concern too. So nice of them. =)

As I am afraid that I may feel unwell again, I went home after taking my bath. I broke my record for bathing rather fast by the way! Haha! Missed the discussion and grouping for the fusion night that would be taking place on the second night of the camp though. Being the responsible president of wushu, Jiangda accompanied me to the bus stop where I waited for my auntie to drive me. He only left after I board the car. So paisei to give him all the trouble. =3

After I reached home, I couldn't sleep. I wonder why. I went to school early. Reached there at about 6.15am while I am supposed to reach at 6.45am. While others are preparng for the PT, I lie on the floor and try to get some rest. I am rather worried that I cannot take part in the PT. Well, I managed to in the end. Had fun the whole day even though I feel tired due to that I didn't slept the whole night. Haha. The second day is the best as I enjoyed myself a lot. It's the water games, captain's ball and fusion night!!

The first part of the water games is the minesweeper. Step on the bombs and get a pail of water poured on you. Getting the first pail of water is not fun. Subsequently, we are asking for more water. Haha. We jumped into the medium pool in the end. Haha. Wei Mun actually wanted us to play two games in the pool. But due to time constraint, we only played the "fish net". This is the second part of the water games. As I don't really know how to swim, I choose not to escape when I am surrounded. Haha. Guess what? The winner of the game have to do forfeit. Odd. Haha. There are two winners that escaped the clutch of the fish net. Haha. I did manage to swim a little. Really miss swimming though. Haha. Liyan almost drowned because Alvin pushed her into the water. His face turned white after seeing what happen to Liyan. Phew, I really salute to Liyan for her bravery to stay calm in the water. I wonder what will I do if it happens to me. Alvin did tried to pull me into the water, I was rather surprised that I managed to pull myself back. Phew. I thought he has more strength than me. (I am always not strong for some reasons.. =.= I will be strong soon!!)

Captain's ball. I am the ball catcher. Haha. My team ROCKS!! Those people who really pass the ball from the opponent side to me are really great! Jeremy, Skye, Han Xing, Edward?, Liyan... I can't really remember other people. Haha. Heard that Skye did some nice moves while fighting for the ball; 弓步、一只马.. Think he and Jeremy hurt themselves somehow. Hope that they are okay.. I feel a little stress at my position at times because Wenyi, from the opponent team, stand very near me. He keep saying that he is tired and want to rest on the back of the chair that I am standing. But, odd enough, he hit the ball many times away from my reach. =.=" I am really jealous that he can jump so high. I used the ball to hit his head lightly before giving him the ball after the first goal. Didn't expect that I really hit his head the next time I pass the ball to him, which is after the third or fourth goal. Oops. =X Anyway, my team won in the end with a score of 7 to 1. Haha! The opponent team scored one point after adding 3 more seniors into the game. But, my team scored one more point as well! The score was 6 to 0 initially before the seniors join in. The three people are Jessen, Jiangda and one more person that I can't remember. Haha. my team really rocks. A guy from the opponent team came to me and said something like "你接球的功夫挺不错嘛". Think is something along that line, can't really remember though. Haha. I really have a sense of fulfilment. Think I have never did so well playing other games. Haha. The opponent team changed a few ball catcher while my team didn't. Haha.

Night training, we played dog and bones. I wouldn't say it's very fun because I run very slow. =.= Nevermind about that. Haha.

For fusion night, I am the narrator for my group, replacing the original narrator who is absent. I don't know how to spell his name though. Haha. Anyway, even though I didn't get to perform, being the narrator is rather nice. Haha. As it was done last minute for me, I am very happy with the overall performance. Haha.

After the performances is the human checkers and the viewing of video. Haha. I keep losing very fast in the human checkers. First time played this game. Watched the people in SRJC played before though. Haha. The story of the video watch is rather nice even though the story is a little expected. Haha. It's cartoon anyway. Went to sleep at around 12.30am. Actually, I wanted to study, but didn't want to in the end after seeing the seniors crowding around the table. I wanted to take another table, but dare not because I think it belongs to another CCA. I am scared that I may be scolded too. Scared that I am too tired and cannot take part in the next day activities too. So, I tried to sleep. Slept at 12.30am, woke up at 1.30am because it's freeeeezing cold and the floor is really hard. Slept at around 3.30am to 5.30am again, took my lecture notes and tried to study. Too tired to concentrate and it's still cold. So I kept my lecture notes and take a seat at the table owned by another CCA with Huanhuan, trying to 闭目养神.

Went for PT when it's time. I finally get myself warmed up with the jog as the weather is still rather cold after the heavy rain in the night. After PT, breakfast! It was then followed by a mini birthday celebration for the May and June babies. It's a fruit cake. The top is filled with strawberry, kiwi and mango. I didn't get the strawberry! =.= Anyway, Jing Ting is suanned for not wanting to take the cake because of the side of the cake is coated by almonds.

Well, before breaking the camp, there is the reflection section and the revealing of guardian angels. We have to pick the person to take care and be their guardian angel throughout the camp during the ice breaking. I am Wenyi's guardian angel. I still don't know who is my guardian angel! =S Anyway, for the reflection part, think I missed to say some things. Maybe I can suggest that we pen it down somehow before sharing our views.

The food for the camp, I don't really like it. The rice is rather hard and dry. I feel rather guilty to waste quite an amount of food. I only manage to finish the chicken rice totally. That's the dinner for the first day. Managed to finished most of the dinner for second day except the meat that I have some problem chewing. I forget to review that the night training shouldn't be held so close to dinner.

Anyway, there still seems to be a lot more things to be written. Haha. The seniors are really nice. They took the initiative to interact with us knowing that we are shy.

I really enjoyed the camp. Wushu rocks!

Warm up!

Having sufficient warm-up is very important before attempting any exercise that are vigorous. This is to prevent muscle tear and spams for it would be really unpleasant.

I did some moves the other day without warming up and somehow sprained my ankle the other day because the muscles at my thigh is not ready for that sudden move.

Just want to remind you to remember to stretch well and get your body well warmed-up before attempting any vigorous exercise no matter how rush you are. I believe that you do not want to hurt yourself, with the fact that you are exercising to keep yourself healthy rather than hurting yourself.

A little tip here. Have a slow jog to warm up your muscles before doing stretching. This is to prevent you from tearing your muscles if you were to pull too hard.

Enjoy exercising!
