Bubble Tea

I just got myself a little addicted to drinking bubble tea. Enjoy chewing the large pearls though. I like the flavour chosen to blend in well with the milk tea instead of having the taste segregated. It would taste really odd when both doesn't blend well.

There are the ice blended and the normal types. Personally, I like the normal types better as I prefer drinking the tea and chew the pearls than biting the ice. Haha.

I have tried a few flavours recently and I prefer mango flavour. Shall continue trying the other flavours available. =)

Chocolate Chip Cookie

I like chocolate chip cookie a lot, especially those chocolates embedded are not hardened after they were baked. It may be a little messy while eating but it's enjoyable. Like the cookie to be rather crunchy though. Don't think it will be nice if it's too soft. I don't like it to be too hard too.

Cookie~ ^^

Chingay Leaders' Appreciation Tea

Just reached home from the event. Didn't really enjoyed it due to some unpleasant event that happened while I was on my way to Heartware office. There were some nice things, just that I couldn't really enjoy it. My head is a little painful now. Guess it's the mixture of unhappiness and the fun that I had at the tea session.

The food was alright, still edible. The longan and almond jelly was a little too diluted. The best was the fruit tart.

Well, as expected, I will somehow stone there as there wasn't much people that I knew. Glad that there were nice people that talked to me. Didn't took much initiative today as my mind still can't put what had happened aside.

The games were alright. Did somehow made me put my worries aside for a moment. Sent out by my group for the "lowest" section. The game in-charge, Alex, took out a pole. I thought it's "ma bu" initially, thinking that I am at an advantage. But it turned out to be crossing under the pole. Only one guy, of the four person sent out, survived. I fell down at the third one. My back is a little painful. Haha. Need to practice on this more I guess.

It's the showing of the "mon-touch" for the ending. I never hear or seen the word before. Thanks Alan for the explanation. Haha. Hope I spelled correctly. Haha. Well, didn't see my picture. Not even my group photo though. *shrugs*

PG didn't turn up in the end due to last minute matters. Maybe I wouldn't feel that lonely if she's there.

Anyway, I got a certificate from heartware! Yey! Not crumpled. =D I got a goodie bag too. Was a little disappointed when I saw the photos as I wasn't inside. =\ Oh well..

Overall, the event was alright. It would be better if I get to win some prizes. Wore according to my sector's theme, black and white. Guess my group would win if Nigel didn't mistook dark blue as black. Haha. =)

Sugee Cookie

The first time that I ate sugee cookie was when I was in secondary two. Baked this cookie for home economics lesson. Felt like floating when I put the first cookie into my mouth. Even though ghee was used to baked this cookie, it did not in anyway tasted oily. The chopped almonds added extra flavour to the cookie. The cookie is really crispy. Yum-yum.

I haven't baked the cookie for a long time. One Auntie from my Mother side baked for my family during Chinese New Year. Enjoyed it a lot. I would really prefer those hand-made than machine-made.

TV Broadcast of Chingay Parade 2009

Finally get to watch the full performance of Chingay Parade 2009. The performance at area one is very different from area four. Never knew that I missed out so much. Well, glad that I manage to watch it on TV. I have just finished watching the repeat as I was attending Chingay@Heartlands last Sunday. I really like the music for some of the items.

My favourite performances are the dragon dance from China, the twleve fairies and the finale. The dragon dance have the sparks effect which is created by the hitting of molten metal according to the narrator of the event. I wonder why there isn't any residue left at the area. The music for the twleve fairies sounds a little like the pirates of carribbean. For the finale, the voice of the "king and queen" is really nice. The music is nice too. Wonder where I can get it though. Haha.

Commenting on the show, I wonder why there was so much echo. Words of the emcee, the royal clown, was blurred and there are times that I do not get what he was trying to say. Overall, it was a great event.

I heard from SockHui that the broadcast was a mixture of the preview and actual day. Haha. The good part of not broadcasting the event live will not cause homeviewers to miss out any part of the performance. The feeling of watching on the spot is really different from watching it on TV though. Haha. It would be really nice to watch it at area one as there are fireworks. Haha.

I simply love Chingay. Chingay 2009 rocks! =D

Chingay at Heartlands

Went to the stage area to catch some performances before the floats arrive with my Grandma and my two Aunties. Brought my balloon sculpture of the flower along, wearing it on my wrist, as the balloon will not be in this "bloated" state after a few days. Haha.

I watched some nice performances though. PM Lee was the guest-of-honour for the event. Wanted to watch the Korean dance, the guys type, but missed it as the floats arrived at the time of their performance. Ran out to take picture of the floats. Cool.

The event was a bit messy though. I do not really know what was going on. Went to take some free milo while I waited for the floats to arrive. It was really a close up view of the floats. Fun! =D

The floats actually move rather fast. I have to run to catch up with the "dragon float" so that I can take nice pictures. Missed the part when it "spills fire". Hmm. Captured a nice picture of the "dragon head", not bad. Haha.

As I was still high-spirited in the Chingay mood, I waved and shouted "happy new year" to the people on the float. It feels so different being an audience and a volunteer. The pirate's ship slid backwards at one point of time. Lucky that it stopped in time. If not, what happens to the cars behind is unimaginable.

I felt odd. Why was there only 5 floats? I thought there was more? Seeing that the road was not blocked anymore and other cars were passing through the road, I went home with Auntie Mui. Reached home at around 8.30pm. I quickly switch on the TV to catch the Chingay performances. Guess what? I start to hear loud noises. Went to the window to take a look and there were more floats coming! I missed it! Hmm.. =S Didn't really get to take pictures or see them clearly as there were trees blocking my view. I am not really disappointed that I don't get to have a close-up view of the floats as I was part of Chingay. Was disappointed that Auntie Mui missed the chance to have a close-up view. Hmm..

Chingay 2009

Woke up a little later than what I planned as I was too tired. I haven't gain back all my energy and I have to report to the volunteers' tentage again. As I hope to take lots of pictures since it was the last day, I quickly transfer my photos and videoes from my phone to my laptop. I then had a quick lunch, get myself changed and set off to city hall.

Reached there just in time. I sat there and stone as the EXCO was having their meeting. Waiting for instructions to be given. Nigel was late as usual. Haha. I was really sleepy. Tried to delete some photos and videoes from my phone while I was waiting. Watching some of the videoes sure brought back the nice memories of NDP.

Saw U3 having one big NTUC plastic bag full of goodies. Saw Kinder Bueno. I wonder who bought it. Maybe Shiyong was going to eat it all. HAHA. Anyway, was happy that Victor gave me one lollipop. Saved it so that I have something to eat later in the day when I need glucose. =)

After instructions were given, it's the waiting of the rest of the volunteers to arrive. Am starting to get a little hungry. Joycelyn and SockHui's group rocks. They were the only one in each of their group initially. We were joking that there were going to do solo. Haha. Was complaining my hunger to them and Joycelyn asked me to get it from Shiyong. When he open his bag, I was shocked. Haha. He is really a first-aider. So many canola bars and bicuits. I took one chocolate chips canola bar out of that many. My favourite. Yum yum. Thanks to him that my stomach don't feel so bad. =)

Everyone was starting to feel bored as the wait to start working seems to be so long. People started to go around taking a walk or buy ice cream from the nearby ice cream cart. Good business. Haha. Staying under the tentage sure is a lot warmer than taking a walk beside the Singapore river. Was a little disappointed that I missed Grandma's performance at the esplanade. Dare not ask to go over even for a while as I wasn't sure what time we will move off and furthermore, I have my responsibilities.

Everyone settled back down when Mr Raymond Huang was going to give his speech. Finally start working after his speech. My group helped out with a bigger area at area one this time round. After putting the things on the seats, we then have our mass picture taken. Don't think I can be spotted as my group was standing at the first row from the bottom. The photo was taken from the top as they want the parliment house as the background.

It was the headcount after that as we have to proceed to area four. Nigel was really funny. As he do the headcount in the middle of the way, I asked him why don't he jsut do it at the side. His reply was that before going to area four, we must at least take a look at the seat that the president was going to sit. LOL! Anyway, one police officer hurried us to do the headcount and leave the area as they wanted to start their security checks. Didn't see the dog that day though. Only saw it on the day before.

We went to have out dinner at the LTA concourse again. Went to toilet at the esplanade first as there were not enough time for us to go toilet after that. Found out something though. Anyway, ran to take a look at the choir that was performing. It's not my grandma's group. Oh well. Rushed back for dinner yet was unable to start eating as there were not enough spoons to go around. Wanted to eat first initially as my speed of eating is not that fast. But how can a leader take care of herself first? So I let the others eat first. Wasted food again. This time not because the lack of appetite but the lack of time. Was still a little hungry though. Felt really bad when people complained that I was slow. Wonder why I can't eat while I walk towards area four. Hmm.

Anyway, two cold bottles of coke were being passed around. Was a little surprised. Poured some into my empty bottle. Glad that it lasted me till the end of the event. I really need glucose.

It's headcount and briefing again after reaching the gallery. Went to toilet again while the rest did the checks for faulty chairs as the pain was getting a little stronger. The quality of the mobile toilets are so different from those of NDP. Hmm. Went back to sit and chat while waiting for the gates to open. Some magicians did some tricks for us. COOL. The first one that I tried was a poker card trick. I kept staring at his hand and did not realise his switch of card. That guy actually switched my card while I was holding firmly onto the card. Asked him to do it again but he changed topic and went on to do another trick. Haha. Saw some flaws in his card while he did his second trick to Eileen.

An older guy magician came later on. His tricks were more unbelievable. He asked me to stop his flipping of card at anywhere I want and he actually pull out the card that I was suppose to get at where I stopped. Card tricks, maybe there's a magicians' code. What comes next was really ridiculous. He held on to Eileen's hand and asked Eileen to touch me. I actually experienced static. Yes, static from him through Eileen to me. It hurts my finger for a quite some time though. Eileen didn't feel the shock though. Odd. This is really sCaRy. The rest of the magicians were saying that he was the "master" or something, and were joking that none of them must touch him. Haha. Anyway, this was the first time that I experience people doing magic tricks right in front of me. Cool.

The "master" was doing a trick for Nigel when the gates opened. Everybody quickly went to the assigned position after I "loud-hailered" the information given by the PA personnel. Went back to the second staircase as my job was to cover for Jamal. KweeFang gave me her blue balloon sculpture of a dog after I said that I want a balloon. Haha. She helped me got another blue balloon sculpture of a flower with a yellow center that I tied on my hair later on. So happy! =D Really thank her a lot as I was shy to ask for a balloon from the person. Hee. ^^"

As I was stationed with KweeFang, we were really excited as we anticipated Dewu's performance. As they didn't appear after some time, we were a little disappointed as we thought that they were not performing anymore. We went really high when they appeared. Missed some of the actions as people kept coming in. We cheered for Dewu when there was a break in the flow of people. On my count of three, we shouted "Dewu jiayou!". As Chiawei is the only person that she and I know, shouted for Chiawei too. Think our voice was not heard at the performing area as the music was very loud. What I know was that the audiences around us turned to look at us and laugh. The only actions that I can recall from the performance are the taiji quan and the sparring by Guangyao coach and Eric coach.

Went to watch the show later on. The lights were off for the fire crackers. It looked a lot nicer with the lights off. Covered my ears and the sound was still very loud. Haha. The lighting effect for the actual day's event was a lot nicer than the day before. So glad that I got to watch the show together with Eileen, Jieying and Joel. We merely highed together. Glad that I got to watch the finale too. But am a little disappointed that I didn't get to see the opera singers in action. Heard that they are superb. Hmm.

Rushed to my position for the dismissal. There was no changing in the directions that we were supposed to direct the audience as there wasn't any serious bottleneck problems. Rushed back to the tentage after the headcount. Welcomed by the warm applause of the area one volunteers.

There's another round of mass photo-taking. We took it with Mr Tan Boon Huat this time round. Guess I will not be seen in the picture again. Was at the back and and at the side where there were quite a few tall guys standing infront of me. Oh well..

Helped Kailing to give out the Toblerone chocolates to my group while they were filling up the feedback form as I have lend my pen to someone else. I got to have one normal Toblerone chocolate and one dark Toblerone chocolate besides from the Weathers' Original given to me by Kailing earlier in the day. Got the chance to taste Toblerone's dark chocolate finally! =D

After submitting the feedback forms, we get to receive our certificate of appreciation. Mine was crumbled. Furthermore, after Jonathan took mine to have a look, he somehow stepped on it or something. Haiz. =\ I would rather make a special trip down to the office to collect my certificate. Well, not just mine, others' were a little crumbled as well as we have no file to put it.

Anyway, thanks to Jonathan for letting me know what time is the last train to Jurong East and helped me to apply early leave from Syahrul. Thanks to Eileen for waiting for me finish my leaders' meeting. Eileen and I took a picture with Mr Raymond Huang before leaving. Had a nice chat with Eileen and Hongquan while we took the train home together.

Chingay was a success because of the hardwork and effort of all the people involved. The volunteers, the PA staffs, the cleaners, the audience and many more. I really want to thank U7 for the all the cooperation and hardwork. Thank you everybody! =D

This is my first chingay and the first time being a leader. There is a big room for improvement. I really thank the person to give me the chance to bE a leader; the chance for me to leArn and unleaSh the potential that I may have. It was a new experience for me. There is still something that I must work really hard on - I must eliminate my fears. I will continue to do my best to brush up my skills! =D

Cheers! ^^

Chingay 2009 Preview

It was a relieve after having one paper down. Rushed home to put my bag and took some small snacks before making my way to the meeting point. I reached there early and waited for the rest of the volunteers to arrive. Was rushing crazily with my pack of jelly as I thought that I was going to be late. I really like being hands-free.

Gave out the jellies together with the pass and armband when my group members have arrived. Hope they like my small gift. =)

We then proceed to area one to help out with putting items on the chairs. Was a little blur with the instruction as I wasn't clear about it. Maybe it was me who didn't registers the information well or it was Johnathan, area four's assistant chief, who didn't give the instructions clearly. It was rather sudden to me. So bad that I got scolded by him for that. I am quite disappointed that he mistaken that I thought that this is not NDP and was more sloppy in standard. That is so not me. =.= I may not be very good but I believe my professionalism is up to standard. Anyway, I believe that I will do better as time goes. =)

Area one is really big. The stage was decorated very nicely. The chairs were in red and yellow. Nice. It's so different from area four, the last performing area, the area that U3 and U7 were in-charged of.

It's a "tradition" that it will rain before Chingay. It was the preview and there was a heavy rain before the parade commence. All of us were drenched. Luckily it wasn't that bad. We get to dry ourselves in time. We ran in time to the LTA concourse for shelter after helping out at area one. I wasn't able to run as I was wearing my new shoes. It was rather slippery. Don't think I want to have anymore new injuries.

U3 and U7 then had dinner at the LTA concourse, drying ourselves at the same time. I have to dry my "laundry" (my documents) at the same time too. Haha. Didn't eat much as I didn't have appetite. What Yuteng said made me vomit some rice. Haha.

Wanted to proceed to area four after dinner. But it was still raining. So we stayed under the shelter at the escalator area. Since we have nothing to do, we waved to the people on the floats as they were travelling from area four to area one. Self-entertainment.

After the rain stops, we went to the gallery to wipe the seats dry. My arm muscles were so strained. Still having muscle ache on my left palm. Haha. Useless me.

My job for the day basically is to cover KweeFang as she wasn't able to make it. There were some changes in instructions that made me blur. Stood at the wrong position initially till Nigel come and inform me. No wonder I was feeling so odd that I have nothing to do. The lighting effects on the performers did somehow strained the volunteers' eyes. The continuous flashing caused us to have some problems seeing the seat number on the ticket. My performance on that day wasn't up to standard. Maybe I am too used to a concert hall setting. Hmm..

Wasn't able to watch much of the performance as the audience were coming in continuously. Was shocked when I saw the wushu people. Chiawei, Shuyan, Guangyao coach, Anthony, Eric coach, and other Dewu's people. Wasn't able to concentrate for a moment. Guangyao coach and Eric coach's sparring was COOL and the taiji quan was really nice. No wonder I feel that the music was rather familiar when they were testing the system before the event.

The PA staff allowed me to take a seat when the audience flow was not that high. This was the first time that I see and hear fire crackers. COOL! Am glad that the audience were cooperative in the sense that they listened to me when I ask them to return to their seat for photography and videography as they were not allowed to do so at the steps.

Was a little moody initially as I thought someone took my whole pack of jelly. Wasn't that low-spirited after watching the dragon dance from China. They used charcoal to make a very nice glitter effect. There were two stations where there were two people each. One of the two people will throw the charcoal while the other one would use something to hit and scatter it. COOL!!! It looked so much like ground fireworks. They really used a lot of time to prepare the charcoal thing. Haha.

Missed the finale as I had to prepare for dispersal. Wanted to see the opera singers in action though. Hmm. I found my pack of jelly in the end, so happy. Haha.

It was quite an enjoyable and tiring day. After the debrief, I rushed home to rest as I need lots of energy for the next day.
