Club Crawl 2010

The theme for this year's club crawl is "happiness". I like the layout of the sports hall and the performance area. Going to the toilet was however not that accessible due to the exit being blocked by the booths. The badges given out with accordance to the theme looks nice too. What a pity that I did not manage to collect all.

I was not really in the mood to do anything as I keep feeling very fatigue for both days. Headed to the booth and spend the rest of the day there after my class.

I missed the performance for the first day as no one informed me about it. Felt neglected. I did not spend much time there as I had lesson and after-action-review for Orientation. I went to buy the cake for the birthday celebration held later in the day while the others went on to trained at night. There was not any time available for me to go to the booth.

The second day was more happening for me. Missed the performance again. I had more time available to stay at the booth and walk around giving flyers. I did some kicking of the padding too. The silat and taekwando club were kicking padding too. Bored I guess. Near the closing of the event was rather boring as the crowd was not there.

I went to try out rock-climbing. It was fun! My hands were like jelly after the trial. I tried the second toughest first. Gave up halfway as I was not able to hang on. Tried the easiest and I managed to reach the top. Yes! Thank you WeiChong and William for helping me to take videos. It is a very memorable thing for me. It has been a tiring job for the rock-climbing people to ensure the safety of the participants. Thanks for their effort too.

With my jellied hands, I tried to drink water and was shaking really vigorously. I took a while to open the cap as I could not really feel my hand! What a great impact.

After a while, it was time to pack up. Clearing at the fastest speed, we removed all our things and it was time to go home. Took a ride in WeiChong's car to the MRT station to take my bus. I alighted earlier as there was a jam and I have another bus to take from that bus-stop too. My hands were still jelly after reacihng home. The "jelliness" was there for the next few there though.

NYP Wushu Mar/Apr Babies B'day Celebration 2010

Rushed my way to buy the cake after having things settled at SHSAC. As knife and candles were not provided, I got to drop at the bus-stop at Grandma House to get the items. Thanks Auntie Mui for making a special trip down to pass me the stuffs, missing part of the show that she was watching. So nice of her.

I was so glad that I managed to rush back to school in time. I estimated that I would need an hour to get the cake. Surprisingly, I took one and a half hour to do so. Wow.

Leaving the cake in the clubroom, I rushed to grab some tissues from McDonald's. A 'big grab'. Rushing back to the clubroom, I quickly take the cake, tissues and lighters, and make my way to the netball court. I was so scared that I can't reach there in time.

I was so glad that I made it in time. What a coincident that WeiChong was there for training. He was one of the birthday baby! The "crowd" looks nicer with three people than two. As there was no March babies in the club, this celebration seemed more like one for the April babies.

While serving the cake, Liping and Liyan helped me to collect the money. Thanks to their help that I was able to get everything done quickly and smoothly. It was kind of stress while cutting the cake as WeiChong and Ivan keep doing "stunts" near me. Haha.

Well, what I need to improve on is the rubbish part. I kind of get annoyed when people start to throw the tissues into my plastic bag, assuming that it was for rubbish when my stuffs are still inside. Honestly, there are times that I feel disappointed that I have to stay behind to clear the rubbish left behind. Teamwork?

Well, here is a picture of the mocha cake that I bought!

Happy birthday to the April babies! =D

NYP SHS Orientation 2010

This big event was finally over. A great relief. My role for this year's event did not seems to have any importance.

I was not told of what was going to happen and what to do. On the event day, what I merely contributed was collecting food for the club members. I was sent to get the food alone. It was very nice of one of the students in-charge of food to help me carry the other 17 packs all the way from North Canteen to the Auditorium. I carried another 4 packs and 21 packs of drinks.

Reaching the auditorium, I was told to bring the food to the sports hall. Instructions was just given to me with no one offering any help. I waited. Another girl from the club came to help me. As she has a way smaller body build than me, I carried all 21 packs of rice and three packs of drinks while she carried the rest of the drinks. It was so heavy that I could hardly move.

As I was not feeling well, I was having a slight fever, I did not have much appetite to eat. Seeing that, someone asked for a reason for not showing interest in my food. Since it was nice of him to ask, I told him that I was having a fever. The shocking thing was that he actually shouted across the hall to tell the president, making the whole world knowing that I was sick. I know he has no harm in doing so but that totally shocked me.

After having our meals, it was time to get back to work. The freshies were going to play their bonding games. Having nothing to do, I sat at the bench the whole day, forcing water down my throat. My fever did somehow subsided. The rest of the club members with nothing to do went crazy on the stage, singing and dancing. It looks fun.

At around 3pm, I went to take a look at the Wushu clubroom as I believe that some of the people must have arrived. Played with "gun" and "dao", I really miss the feeling that I get during training. Itchy muscles.

The orientation ended with a mass dance. Looks fun. I was still sitting at the side. I helped out in clearing so that everybody can go home early. There were more things to clear after most of the things were taken up to the clubroom. I cleared the rest of the things after spotting them on the floor while going for wushu as the SHS clubroom was locked.

I planned to buy the cake for March and April's birthday babies celebration. I did not do so as the event ended late. Though it dragged, I really must say that the emcees had did a great job in hipping up the atmosphere.

The after-action-review was done the day before yesterday. It was a disappointing day for me due to some changes in post that I do not understand. I still feel alienation and isolation. Oh well. Tomorrow will be a better day. Anyway, the feedback from the freshmen was that it was a fun event. I am really glad that they had enjoyed themselves.

Muse Infusion

This event was like a SYF event. A little happy that I got to work for this event as I was not able to work for SYF this year.

The organiser was not well-organised. People were not cooperative as well. As it was the grading for band from Asia, there were many groups that came from different countries. China, Malaysia, Thailand, Philipines, Indonesia and Singapore.

What the conductor from the China band did was really inconsiderate. They were the first group. While others were performing, the band and that conductor totally did not show any respect. I don't see any point for them to pursue music anymore as they are not respecting music too.

The emcee did something inconsiderate too. Standard house's rule; no food and drink. I told him about that as he was gulping down his 100plus and talking mindlessly, he did not seemed happy. He said something that made me feel more negative towards the hirer. He said that the "main thing about holding an event is to earn money, not whether the event is smooth or not". How ethical is that.

The music performed by some groups were nice. The music played by Thailand group in western suits was really nice! The best costume would go to the other Thailand group that wore their traditional costume. Nice.

Work-wise, I got door three inside. Initially it was alright. I felt annoyed after some weird actions by my "partner". I can't believe that she actually complained behind my back. Great. Besides from the troubles created by her, everything else was alright.

Dinner break. It was not confirmed that there was two shifts initially till I reached there. I didn't ate any as Grandma had cooked my favourite food. Thanks to uncle Jimmy for treating me instant noodles. Though it was a small pack, it managed to last me till the event ends. I topped it up with my favourite milo. I decided to drink milo only initially.

The very nice Thailand group got a gold! Nice! They deserve it! Their conductor did smiled to me when he entered the house earlier in the day. I did not smile as my mood was not there. Felt really sorry about it. I almost didn't smiled throughout the whole day till after the dinner break.

What a new experience I would say. Bad organiser with some bad ethics people who trys to do something grand.
