Power Over Cervical Cancer

I believe that many people out there have heard of cervical cancer and have a rough idea of what it is, especially when it is one of the top rated "woman-killer". Just like any other cancers, early detection of the presence of cancerous cells would allow better prognosis and treatment. It is thus very important to raise the awareness to understand what cervical cancer is all about.

Some of the symptoms of a possible cervical cancer are as follows:
- abnormal bleeding between periods, after intercourse and after menopause
- water or bloody vaginal discharge
- lower abdominal pain during intercourse

Cervical cancer is usually detected in the later stages as there are no signs or symptoms in the early stages. In order to detect any abnormality, it is recommended to have regular PAP smear done. Vaccines can be injected to prevent the occurrence of the cancer.

In order to effectively reduce the risk of getting cervical cancer, a healthy lifestyle is strongly advised. Although this cancer is not hereditary and occurs more commonly in sexually active women, the risk is higher in smokers. So yup, smoking is not at all cool.
