YOG 2010 Theme Song - Everyone

This is the theme song for the first youth olympics games. This short and simple song is sang by five artists that represents the five different continents.

YOG 2010 Water Stage

The third combined rehearsal was over. As it rained earlier in the day, the water on the stage seemed way freezing than the previous rehearsal. Anyway, I strongly believe that the water was pumped from the Singapore river. My skin was irritated by the water. I do not agree with the idea that the water from Singapore river should be used.

I understand that water is precious. Since everyone is going to dirty the water, what's wrong with using water from Singapore river? The fact that using the relatively clean water would protect the performers from infections. There are going to be a few more combined and component rehearsal. What if performers were down on the actual day of performance? I believe that there are way lots of micro-organisms in the Singapore river as compared to water dirty by performers.

Honestly, I felt that YOG performers in many aspects were not sufficiently well taken care of. I seriously wonder if I can survive till the end of this event.

The freezing cold water is causing me to feel pain in my joints. The smell is so awful that it cause my body and clothings to have a really bad stench. Last but not least, the water is an irritant to my skin.

I am not the only person that is facing with all these problems. I really wonder where I can voice out all these issues. Knowing that the issue of coldness hard to be solved, I am just simply hoping to have some clean and odourless water.

It's not a mystery whether those people sitting so high up will even listen to the voice of the "small" and "unsignificant" performers. I really doubt that there will be any actions done to improve the situation since performers for NDP09 chapter 6 were denied of the small request to see and breathe.

Release of YOG 2010 Costumes

The long awaited costumes were finally released. After much guessing of how they are going to look like, we finally get to see the final products!

As expected, my jaws dropped. I hoped that what I saw was wrong. It was however verified on the first combined rehearsal that what I saw is true. I do not like to wear caps or hats. I feel uneasy when there is something on my head. Hairpins would of course be exceptions.

I heard that the costumes were designed by a batch of Lasalles College's students. Final year project?

Anyway, I am going to wear a guy's costume. It's kind of a discrimination that martial arts is solely for guys. Anyway, I find the Silat costume way nicer than what I am going to wear. I wonder how the wushu costume looks like. It was not posted on the web. I am guessing that they are going to be way nicer than mine. I guess the wushu costume is red, a favourite colour of mine.

I like blue too, but not in this manner. Anyway, in my opinion, I think that some of the things doesn't mean that the more sophisticated it is, the nicer it is. Sometimes, simplicity is beautiful too. I do not deny that the costumes are colourful. The combination and design can however be improved.

There is only one costume that I thought it looked alright; the one in red that was rather simple and looked like it's for a gymnast.

YOG Costume Measurement

On Labour Day, I went to have my measurements for the performance costume taken early in the morning. It was at PKCC again. When I first went there, it was seniors that brought my group of people there. Now, I brought junior there. How time flies.

The process was fast. After testing on the given size, we just have to submit the card with our name and identity number. It was the queue that dragged.

As I do not want to go home "just like that", I went to meet my friend, passing him his overdued birthday present. As I wanted to buy another birthday gift for another friend, I chose to meet at HDB Hub. What a coincident! Leo and Merly was there! Thank KS for volunteering to help me to take a picture with them! It is going to be such a memorable thing. It was such a great opportunity as I do not get to see them during Chingay. Just a pity that the picture was a little blurred due to the quality of my phone.

This is the first step towards YOG. I wonder what kind of experience will YOG gives me..

Youth Olympics Games 2010 Mascots

I like this picture of the first Youth Olympics Games' mascots. I didn't really like the design of the mascots a lot but this picture nice. The cute side of the mascots I guess?

On the second day of this Lunar New Year, at 12am midnight, I accepted the post offered to me after a lot of thoughts. There were basically three opportunities for me to sign up for; dewu wushu to perform for the opening ceremony, YOG official site, and Heartware Network as ushers for opening and closing ceremonies.

I am offered a post to be an Event Service Marshal. It's something like usher but not really alike. I wonder how is it going to turn out to be. I am really looking forward to be part of the first Youth Olympics Games.

2008 Summer Paralympics Mascot

This colourful cow depicts the spirit of the atheles just like a cow; determination and down to earth. It's really cute and I hope that I can own a souvenir of it. The name of this mascot, 福牛, is called "乐乐".

2008 Beijing olympics medals

The designs of these medals are really delicate. Even the ribbons are so nicely designed. The component of the auspicious clouds is really a good idea. What furthermore made these medals so elegant is the embedded jade in each medal! Jade sure is nice. ^^

The choice of jade for each medal, gold, silver and bronze, is really matching. The colours do not in any way looks odd.

Congratulations to the athletes who are able to clinch these medals as it is really an honour to achieve a medal and especially when it is such a nice one. =D

Well, I find this video that promotes Olympic games 2008 rather cute and interesting. It is a video of the 2008 Games' mascots -- friendlies. I had viewed it once on TV though. 奥运2008吉祥物

附上的图片是今年第二十九届奥运会的吉祥物--福娃。今年的奥运将在中国北京举行，是一个许多人都期盼的一项盛事。这五个福娃造型可爱，挺讨人喜欢的。真的好想拥有这幅个福娃的玩偶哦。它们的名字分别为“贝贝”、“晶晶”、“欢欢”、“迎迎”和“妮妮”， 带有着“北京欢迎你”的意思，挺有趣的。

Cheer for Singapore!

I am really glad that Singapore is selected as the host country for the upcoming youth olympics. Being a small country and does not have the chance to host the olympics, I believe that being the selected host for the youth olympics is a great honour to Singapore.

Being a selected host would also imply a good future in Singapore's development and economic growth. This is what most of the people are looking forward to.
